How to install VMware NSX-T Data Center 2.4.0 appliance

VMware NSX-T Data Center 2.4 provides a variety of features to provide functionality for virtualized networking and security for private, public, and hybrid clouds. In this blog post, I will take you through how to install and configure VMware NSX-T 2.4.0

NSX-T is available to download as an OVA format at MyVMware. If you have not downloaded it already, please get it from https://my.vmware.com/

Once the NSX-T ova is downloaded, go to the vCenter server and deploy the ovf template. Select the ova file you just downloaded and click Next.

In the next step, select name and location for the NSX-T manager virtual machine and then click Next

Select the configuration for the NSX-T Manager deployment. For this deployment, I am selecting medium. Once selected, click Next

In the next stage, you will select the storage and networking for the NSXT manager vm. This is the vmfs datastore where the NSX-T manager vm will reside and the vsphere network port group where the NSX-T manager will get connected.

Once the storage and networking is configured, click Next

In the customize template section, update all the required passwords and the network properties. Once updated, click on the Next tab.

In the ready to complete window, review the configuration data and then click Finish. NSX-T manager appliance deployment will be then initiated.

Once the deployment is completed successfully, power on the virtual machine.

Note: By default there will be reservation set on the CPU/Memory of the VM and if you do not have enough resources in the cluster, power on vm will fail. In that case, make sure you go to edit settings and remove the reservation before powering on the NSXT manager vm.

Once the NSX-T vm is powered on, connect to the NSX-T manager GUI using https://FQDN-OR-IP-address-of-NSXT-Mgr/

You will see the EULA. Read it, click the check box and click continue.

You will now see the Welcome to NSX-T get started page as below. Now you can start configuring your NSX-T.
